This sizzling dish is an exciting take on beef shanks, which are braised slowly with spices and Knorr Beef Broth Base to create a rich, meaty flavor. The savory, tangy tamarind and beef sauce completes the kansi-style twist!

Preparation

  1. Sinigang Beef Shank and Sinigang Gravy Preparation

    140 minutes
    1. In a pot, add a little oil and sauté the garlic. Once it starts to turn light brown, toss in the onions.
    2. When the onions become translucent, add in the tomatoes to the pot.
    3. Slightly stir the tomatoes around before adding the sliced ginger and galangal together.
    4. Afterwards, pour the water in the pot along with the lemongrass, achioite oil, and Knorr Beef Broth Base to develop an aromatic beef broth.
    5. Once it starts to boil, add the beef shank and slowly simmer for 2 hours or until tender. Make sure to skim off the foamy surface then add some water every 30 minutes to create a clear and flavorful soup.
    6. Add the Knorr Sinigang Sampalok Mix and adjust seasoning.
    7. Once cooked, transfer the beef shank and reserve the sauce for the sinigang gravy.
  2. Sizzling Sinigang Beef Kansi

    15 minutes
    1. Heat the oil in a pot and stir in the flour.
    2. Let it turn light brown before adding in the reserved stock of 2 liters from the previous step to create a sinigang gravy sauce.
    3. Bring to boil and simmer until tender.
    4. Once it starts to boil, prepare a heated sizzling pan and add a little oil.
    5. Place the beef shank and pour the sinigang gravy from this all over.
    6. Best served on a sizzling plate and enjoy!
